Curiosity brings together for the first time, the work of the iconic Surrealist photographer Mexican-Hungarian, Kati Horna in dialogue with the work of contemporary female artists from Latin America. Through the lens of photography, these artists explore and transcend traditional two-dimensional practices, challenging perceptions of space, memory, and identity.

Inspired by the tradition of collectors’ cabinets of curiosities, the exhibition invites the audience to embark on a journey of self-discovery and exploration. The artists, much like collectors of objects and stories, in their own way collect people and places that are connected to images and objects, building their own universes. The artists offer glimpses of their personal experiences and cultural heritage, inviting the viewer to confront their own sense of self and space, becoming themselves objects of curiosity. The use of vitrines, reflection, and shadow transforms photographic works into three-dimensional objects, enhancing the interaction between the audience and the art and creating a magical yet eccentric and unique atmosphere.

Curiosity encourages risk-taking and creative exploration, urging visitors to look at the familiar through a different lens. The exhibition pushes the boundaries of photography, transforming it into sculptural forms and immersive experiences.

In conversation with Kati Horna’s legacy, the exhibition also explores how photography can be a tool for storytelling and for self-reflection, playing with the search of an identity while pushing traditional boundaries and encouraging viewers to become active participants—thinkers and doers in their own right. This diverse group of Latin American artists offers a compelling reflection on the power of images to evoke both personal and collective memory.
